Elementary school kids discovering music instruments with the orchestra Les Clés d’Euphonia
As a violist of the French Orchestra Les Clés d’Euphonia, I had the opportunity to go, with 4 other musicians, at the Institution Sainte-Marie in Antony (France) to present classical music and instruments to over 100 kids from the elementary school.
On the 25th of January, during 3 sessions of 45 minutes, we asked a lot of questions: What is the difference between a viola and a violin? Do you know the bass flute? What famous master pieces of Tchaikovsky do you know? Etc. We were really surprised by the amount of knowledge they had!
We also presented the overture form La forza del destino by Giuseppe Verdi and the Symphony No. 5 in E minor by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky that the kids listened on the 4th of February, when the full orchestra came to play those two musical works. At the end of the concert, the kids could try some instruments. We hope that some of them will start to play an instrument!
