THE VIOLA

Brother of the violin, the viola is a string instrument, really similar to the violin, but a little bit bigger and heavier. It has a lower and deeper sound. The technique to play the viola is similar as the one to play the violin.

With the violin, the cello and the double bass, the viola is part of the string instruments that are bowed. Always part of symphonic orchestras or string quartets, it is also used in Pop music. The Beatles, The Who, The Velvet Underground or Gorillaz used it in some of their songs.

The viola I use to travel the world

The viola I use for this trip has been a faithful companion for many years. Very robust, it is a study instrument I used when I was younger. It will be the first viola to travel around the world by train, crossing Europe, Russia, Mongolia and China, climbing up to 5,000 meters above sea level in the Himalaya, visiting the Easter Island and going across South America.
